It is estimated that 22000 men from the borough fought in World War one.
There are various war memorials situated throughout the borough and this site has been set up to show each of the memorials and as far as possible research each of the men commemorated on them.
The Walthamstow War Memorial Project is the most accurate, single source of Walthamstow casualties ever compiled!
Search for your relative using the box below...Please note that the search engines have not yet indexed the whole of this site. That means that if the search box below does not find what you are looking for then go directly to our casualty database here
The information gathered about each of the men has been gathered from a variety of sources and public records Such as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, archive material and plain old fashioned research. If one of the men listed on this memorial is a relative of yours, or you have additional information that you would like added onto their own Book Of Remembrance page, then please by all means contact me and I shall add it on.

Apart form the men commemorated on the various memorials, I wanted a place whereby I could remember and share details, of other casualties of the Great War that for what ever reason are not commemorated on any memorials in the borough. Many men also survived the horrors of the Great War and their service has gone largely un-noticed until now...
Our database is growing all the time so check back often!
